I had a bout of bronchitis in 2019 around Christmas that laid me out for over a week. In March, after attending two basketball games in a full stadium the week before lockdown, I ended up with what seemed to be mild COVID symptoms.
Other than seasonal allergies and sinus drainage, I have not been sick since. I typically get sick in the winter. Nothing this year.
I received my second Pfizer shot on January 8. I mask where it's legally required or there is a social expectation that I wear one. I frequent some restaurants and businesses where masks are not mandatory. I do not mask there.
Even our Gov said we could eat outside but should "mask up" between bites and sips.

I wear a mask anytime I go indoors and I might on a sidewalk if there are alot of people. I wear a mask at restaurants until I get to my table. I avoid overcrowded restaurants and restaurants if staff are not wearing masks. Restaurants seem to be getting more busy but I get my second Covid vaccine on Friday. I will still wear a mask as I have been doing but I will be a little less concerned about the restaurants getting more busy.
I quit shaking hands 30 years ago after getting a very bad virus that way. I have only gotten sick 2 times in that 30 years and know exactly how both times.
When covid is under control if we stop shaking hands we will be 90% safe from normal infections.
How do you avoid shaking hands if one is extended? Leaving someone hanging is considered rude.
As this was playing out a lot of us had the same thought, that the cold and flu season won't be nearly as bad this way. Good thing, I sure wouldn't like to get sick right now because you just don't know what it is. With that said I don't know too many people who would like this to be permanent.
What kind of a church allows their parishioners to infect others ? Why don't you say something publicly in front of those families with no mask on ?
I hope a new trend appears of the knock out game targeting people who don't have masks on. That would be a great improvement over the current begging and pleading model.
It's weird - everyone was in compliance very well (I'd say 95 percent) till around a week before Christmas and then everyone seemed to have just given up or something. One time we left church, after complaining to the usher. Besides no masks, there was not appropriate social distancing and the family behind us was sitting directly in the MARKED OFF PEW (every other pew is marked off for social distancing) AND coughing all over us. Dang it, stop it!
Sorry but I don't want to confront anyone other than management - anywhere, not just at church.
My son works at a fast food place. He was sent a text that someone tested positive and he would be notified within 48 hours if contact tracing showed he would need to quarantine. They still expected him to go in even after someone was tested positive. He decided to use PTO sick for his shift the next day and his MGR threatened to write him up by a phone call. He went in but I was furious when I found out he was being bullied by his boss. Store will not be named.
So employee may have not wanted to be there but was forced to be.
When I spoke to her manager, he said he preferred she went home but she wouldn't - that's all I know.

I would extend a fist, to indicate I would prefer to fist-bump as opposed to shaking hands. I don't think anyone would be confused or feel insulted.
Threads like this get too political. Wear a mask. That is all.
