How did you get that from my post? I never used the word need, that's ridiculous.

Right, just as with alcohol addicted, prescription drug addicted, etc. We have stated repeatedly overuse of any substance is bad. But like with alcohol, the majority use it responsibly. It is easily argued that of the two, alcohol addiction causes much more harm yet it is still legal.

Every so often I would pull him aside to let people go by because he'd just stop dead if he saw a grate & everyone would plow into us from behind, lol.

His doctor recently recommended a Charlottes Web strain for his limbic rage seizures (a 6 foot 5 inches tall, 270 lb teenager goes from sitting quietly & drawing to suddenly leaping on his feet, screaming in rage & plows through the house taking everything & everyone to the ground with his fists & rages like that for about 15 minutes. Afterwards he gets really lethargic & has headaches). I've tried him on the gummies of different strains but they had too much CBD in them. I'm open to trying the Charlottes Web strain, the only thing preventing me is the cost. I'm already paying out of pocket for two of his neuroinflammation melds to be in elixir form because he can't swallow pills. I wish insurance paid for MMJ.
I'm sure it will one day, but probably not until big pharma takes the industry over. Plus it needs to be legalized on the Federal level.first, which I believe is being looked at now. Veterans cannot even be prescribed cannabis through VA yet because of the Federal ban.

If we are entertaining the idea that parts of the mind are unlocked — I would say it’s a need for everyone. Who wants to go through life with a mind not fully unlocked?

Your post doesn't make sense, sorry.

Here’s a Columbia professor that uses heroin to help maintain a work-life balance.

Some people say he’s just a deluded addict.

Perhaps life is something better conquered in the long term with as few stimulants as possible incorporated into life to help us get through?

You said in the initial post I replied to:

“It actually causes an examination of life, it allows people to see the truth of their lives and motivates change.”

“it did more to help me improve my life than therapy ever did.”

“I truly believe it allows access into parts of the brain we can't access when not under its influence.”

“amazingly effectual tools for treating PTSD and other mental illness.”

“You can't get past the picture of the young guy on the couch at 2 in the afternoon in a cloud of smoke with a bag of Cheetos, but that is not the typical user today.”

I believe one of the things that annoys some people about marijuana users is the desire to enthusiastically tell everyone that it enhances, helps or cures almost anything and 99.999% people using it have absolutely no negative effects.

Perhaps in the future we can see some long term studies on say traditional mental health treatments vs smoking marijuana at prescribed intervals.

In today’s America there’s A LOT of marijuana being consumed yet still A LOT of unhappy people. In my mind, anything consumed to create a better feeling...that must be consumed in greater amounts as time goes on to replicate the feeling...well it seems like a circle.

Please substantiate that claim.

But outside of short term use for emergencies, most family docs don’t want the liability of dealing with controlled substances so you have to go to specialists. Just one reason why I ended up with $14,000 in out of pocket expenses from that ordeal, at a time I was unable to work and had only 1/3 of my normal income (from a private disability policy, which thank God I had but I am still in debt from it).
I agree with you. People with a legitimate need aren’t getting relief when it’s needed. Back surgery often goes hand in hand with pain meds and no one who needs the meds should be turned away or have to see a doctor for a refill every month.

I just recently ended my use of pot. I typically smoked 1/8 of a joint at 8 to 9 pm every day. My spouse commented that I seemed to be slurring my words, so I decided to give it a pass. I don't think pot is addictive but it is habituating. Even after just a day or two I seem to be a little more clear-headed. I seem to be sleeping just fine without the pot, so we'll see how it goes.

One thing I will miss is growing it. I loved tending the plants and watching them achieve maturity. When the buds filled out and got sticky, it was very cool to watch, but I can grow all kinds of vegetables and enjoy them as well. I even have a banana plant that actually produces bananas a time or two!
