How about waiting and seeing? Less than 24 hours and a few readings is not enough to know anything for sure. I'd suggest relaxing...give it a week and then take some readings at different times of the day under different circumstances. I'm sure you already have a follow-up appt. with your doc, right?

Yes , using a blood pressure cuff that is too small will result in a higher reading.

When I was montiering my BP, I would take it 3-4 times a day, and keep a chart. You need to sit straight up, and not cross your legs, and let your arm lie on the table, making sure your rolled up sleeve is not to tight.I was also told, to take my BP three times, while sitting there, and take the average.

So you took your BP 9 - 12 times a day. Are you retired or self-employed? I understand the concept of tracking/monitoring but that can turn compulsive pretty easily.

Layden85 said---"Last night I bought a new Omron BP machine and it was 150/90 and then 145/93. This morning I started on 5 mg of Lisinopril once a day (prescribed yesterday). I took one this morning and a few hours later my BP was down. I took it several times and it was 131/80, 125/75, 134/79."

Any possibility the new machine is doing something?

OP there are interesting youtubes' on Metoprolol and other blood pressure modifiers.
I was on 25mg then 50mg/d and back down to 25mg/d.
I see doctor in another 3 weeks. Weight gain, change in eating habits, diabetes2 change, light headiness, generally lassitude. The chance of falling or tripping from low BP (105-115/60, 50hr) is now greater concern than the previous blorderline high BP 145-155/65, 60hr), which I have had since college, 50 years ago.
I have checked the BP meter against doctor's readings, at the office.
