I have bad bunions and I need to address them. I’ve put it off long enough and they will only get worse. I def need surgery. I’m beyond orthotics.

With that said I have a question and would appreciate knowledgeable input.

Should I see a podiatrist for the surgery or an orthopedic surgeon? I have appointments lined up for both just to compare what they say.

I just thought I’d ask here to see if anyone can give me their sound opinion.

Thanks.

Either will do. If it's an orthopedist, ensure that their specialty is foot surgery as dealing with all those little bones and tendons can be tricky.

I had mine done by a podiatrist. She was highly rated, and my results were excellent.

Just do your due diligence to ensure whoever performs it is highly qualified and has a high success rate.

An Orthopedic Surgeon fellowship trained in Foot & Ankle/lower extremity.

But if none is available, then I would probably go with an experienced podiatrist over an Orthopedic generalist.
