I feel like the people who want to go back to the office are the ones who will ruin it for those who don't. The ones who want to go back will just be looked at as 'better'. They are the social extroverts who want face to face time, to schmooze with colleagues, make plans face to face...when really it isn't necessary. But those people seem to rule the office.
A lot of people just can't do what they do remotely. It isn't that I want to schmooze with people. I'm a true introvert, but without people to be with (I like having people around, but not necessarily talking to them) OR some kind of substantive work to do, I am slowly dying of boredom. And I am in a customer service oriented field, so there isn't much for us to do until we fully reopen.

I need people around to call the ambulance when I pass out. My cat can't use the phone no matter how hard I try to teach her! My job can't be done from home and I went back in July. It's no big deal to me. I almost certainly had covid and it only kept me in bed for 36 hours.
Meh. I go into the office about once a week. A few people go in every day, and have for a year.
I prefer going into the office despite the convenience and economics of working from home.
We have been granted official permission to work from home through September 15, 2021. My office is in New Jersey. Personally I was disappointed at what I perceive as a pessimistic outlook and I would have preferred July 15 as the back-to-office date. The vaccines are supposed to be available to "everyone" by the end of May, for goodness sake.
I spent all last year working. in retail. Up close and personal with customers, some of whom refused to wear masks, some of whom refused to social distance, some of whom refused to do both. I got coughed on and sneezed on. One guy came VERY close to whisper about how I should go for drinks with him after work, while he SPewed his SPlosives in my ear.
I am 100% sure that I was exposed to COVID-19 on more than one occasion, but I never got sick.
I still plan on getting vaccinated when it's my turn.
I ended up quitting my job in December because I developed bursitis on top of my osteoporosis and arthritis, and just flat out couldn't do the work anymore.
I have had both doses and I returned to work last week - we are doing week rotations in the office. In my office we'll have 2 in, and the next week those 2 will be home and the remaining 3 will be in the office. I don't interact with anyone really so I am okay with it.
But I work just as effectively at home - so I would rather stay home!
I work in health care. My company just started wfh for some people in the management a few months ago. I've been going in to the office everyday from the time the COVIC started in the middle of Feb. 2020. I've never called in sick one day since and before that. I've got vaccine already. The good thing is my company always has enough PPE for everyone and extra in a storage room. We contact with residents in the care centre everyday.
So, I don't have any problem with going into the office to work. I'm not scared of anything. If I die, I die. When I live, I want to live a meaningful life and to be brave, not like a chicken.
This is a covid related question. With vaccines rolling out, once you get your vaccine will you feel comfortable going back to your office if you haven't already? Or would you prefer to work at home ?
We were told to work from home until the end of June. I would be very surprised if we all go back on July 1. There's been talk of hybrid but no one knows what that will look like. I am kind of getting anxious about what the overall plan will be. It sounds like many employers are telling people to just keep working from home then others are leaving employees in the dark a bit. I'm guessing it's because they don't know.
I'm a lot more comfortable returning to work if I am called back (one dose of Moderna in, one still to go) now than I was six months ago, but I honestly don't see why I should have to. My work (data analysis and international stakeholder coordination) can be done from home just as efficiently, without subjecting me to a crappy commute that wastes anywhere from an hour to two of my life each day, or wearing a mask eight hours a day. Luckily, it appears that my employer might be on board with this approach. Fewer than a quarter of my immediate coworkers liked the idea of WFH when we started almost a year ago. Well over half of them wouldn't go back to the office full-time now.
My wife (a teacher at a boarding high school) is being called back to campus in early April. In my mind, this is complete idiocy, as they will still be teaching in a hybrid fashion, so the students will literally get the worst of both worlds while being in close to solitary confinement most days. But the parents are insisting on it, so here we are.

I'm totally comfortable going back to work. They opened back up in Just and I've been going in ever since. It's all good!
