I need to get it for masses in my uterus area. They think it’s fibroids but could be cancer. I wonder what the drink thing is like. And what is your allergic?

Better yet, why aren't you asking the doc who ordered the scan OP? They might already provide a tidy little info sheet about what to expect, potential allergy concerns, etc. There's web info about CT scans, oral contrast dye ingredients, what to expect. You can find it for yourself.

I think it depends on your Radiologist, Mine injected contrast materials into a vein (intravenously).

I had CT with contrast but it was through an IV. Had no reactions to it but it makes you feel as if you peed yourself. Other then that.. was simple. Never heard of drinking anything for it, so not sure about that.

I had to drink a chalk like drink for a PET scan I had....after they injected me with their radioactive-whatever substance. Then I had to wait an hour before the scan. The drink was milky and thick and not very appetizing and I had to have two bottles of it. yuck oh.

For a regular CT scan, the contrast is injected, and yes, you do feel like you are going to pee I also got a big hot 'whoosh' but neither lasted.

I won’t rehash as my experience was identical to this one.

I've had probably 20 CT scans with contrast. Always injected. The joys of being a cancer survivor. I generally have an MRI with contrast the same day. No issues so far. Drink lots of water after the scan. You may have a metallic taste too.

I had a CT with contrast where I had to drink a clear liquid (like a liter of it) as well as have some stuff injected. Clearly I have no idea what was actually done to me! lol. Don't let them mix the drink with anything like crystal lite--that will make it worse. Just drink it straight on ice. It is pretty tasteless, just a mild plasticky taste. The stuff they inject makes you feel like you have to pee for like 5 seconds. Go into it hydrated and drink a lot of water afterwards. I believe the stuff you drink can be toxic to the kidneys. Good luck.
