Years ago when I had returned from the UK where I became very ill with pneumonia, a doctor told me he thought I had a mild form of CF. I have since childhood had severe respiratory problems. I was given antibiotics left and right, I was sick a couple times a year to the point of coughing up green stuff from my lungs.
Once I was old enough to pursue things myself, I was diagnoses as having asthma. Then of course this doctor states he thinks I have CF, a mild form.
I have been reading alot about it. Apparently there are 100s of mutations of the CF gene so the symptoms that one suffers vary wildy. Of course I feel very lucky that its not a more extreme form AND that my daughter didn't inherit the problem.
My daughter was 5 years old before she got bronchitis AND that was the only time she ever had it and she is now 11. I had it a couple times a year as a child. I would cough for months at a time.
From what I have read, alot of the other health problems I have had, could be related to this.
Does anyone have experience with CF discovered in adulthood?
