Hi, for over a year now I have been having this new hair growth, on my head only, where the hairs that are growing in are very dark, thick, and textured compared to my normal hair which is pretty fine and straight. I mainly notice these pieces towards the back of my head. I do notice dark thick baby hairs growing in along my hair part as well, these hairs won't stay down and stand up through the rest of my hair.
I have asked my GP and she did notice some thinning of my hair in the back but just told me to ask a hairstylist. I did start to notice this a few weeks prior to being diagnosed with hypothyroidism but I am on medication and my thyroid levels are steady at a healthy level yet there has been no change in this hair so I don't think it is my thyroid.
I'm not sure that it's related but I also have tachycardia and have many hypermobile joints. Has anyone else seen this or dealt with it? I'm a 24 year old female. Thanks in advance for any responses

Older than you and it has stopped but I have been hypothyroid for a long time and had the same thing when younger. I have fine, blond-ish hair and would find black, thicker, more curly hairs... it stopped. Now, sadly, my hair has gotten even more thin, as in losing hair. Good luck. (I wouldn't worry about it - if they bother you, pull them out)

Can I ask what treatment or medication you've been given for your thyroid?

Your doctor told you to ask a hairstylist about your hair thinning?

Hair thinning is associated with thyroid problems and sometimes it's nutrient deficiency or insufficiency. Scroll down this page for possibilities. You may be able to improve or remedy it with diet and/or supplements.

It's possible that you have an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder in which case dietary factors can help you manage it as well. You might need to find a new doctor.

Thanks for sharing that link!
While reading I think I found my answer-
"Be aware that the new hair growth may differ in color or texture from your original hair."
Found this on the health line link.
