Hi there, if you don't mind share with me what were your side effects or experience when taking Bactrim and Amoxicillin.
Which one you tend to tolerate more.

Thank you so much.

Depends if you are allergic to it.
Bacteria is a better choice if you are allergic to penicillin.

My side effect with Bactrim: Cleared up a UTI
My Side effect from Amoxicillin : Cleared up my lung infection.

Sometimes those side effects are just what the doctor ordered

TBF My Mom couldn't tolerate any of the"cillins", They had a heck of a time trying to aide her infections. I beleive they did an IV of some potent drug.

I am prone to sinus infections and I had Bactrim once. I don't remember what it did but the effects were terrible. I will never take it again if I can help it.

Amoxicillin was given to me for a sinus infection and mostly it just didn't seem to do anything. I already had a headache and congestion, some dizziness, and all of that just continued. I wrote some notes to remind me that it felt the same as my allergies made me feel. So it was kind of useless.

I took amoxicillin for two months waiting to get an appointment for a tooth extraction due to covid. The drug gave me a canker sore flare up I got from taking inbuprofen a few months earlier. I had the gum sore for months until it finally has retreated a few weeks ago because I used almost every over the counter remedy I could buy and using salt and baking soda rinses. I regret taking amoxicillin for so long, I should have looked for another oral surgeon instead who would have treated me sooner.

Everyone's adverse effects, or lack there of, are different.

Any other answer to your question is meaningless.

I took Bactrum for an abscess.. Cleared it up, but did send my blood work a little wonky. Light neutrophilis or something like that. Knocked my neutrophil count down quite a bit.

Of course.. Then again.. it could have been the abscess that did that.

Why are you asking? Are you having an allergic reaction? If so, best to ask your dr/pharmacist.

I'm allergic to every drug I've taken, so have an asthma attack/red face rash, but... that might not be your reaction. Call your dr, if you have any reaction.

Be well.

I don't respond to either of them. Every infection I have gets worse when I am on them. Respiratory, UTI, skin, dental; no matter what it is; if I take either of them, I get about 10% better for 12-24 hours & then I'm in the ER with a fever of 104 & disorientation.

Not a side-effect, not even thought to be possible but it's been that way for me since I was in my 20's, so now they are both listed as allergies.
