Either way, hospitalizations are up in the US. As of today, it is up 73% on a 14 day average.

If you look at your link it shows hospitalizations are up 29% from one year ago in July 2020. That is profound. When you consider that more than half the people are vaccinated including most of the high risk people from a year ago. Yet more this year are getting sick. One can only imagine what would have happened if Delta existed a year ago.

Hospitalizations, 14 day average, right now, US: +73%

LA +176%
FL +120%
AR +55%
Mississippi + 89%
AL +168%

Every single state has hospitalizations up over the last 14 days except 2 (maybe 3).

It's ridiculous

Hyping the strains is a convenient way to point the finger away from personal responsibility...
The concern I have is that hysteria breeds demands on the part of the public for the politicians to "do something about it." The only available tools that don't run the risks of racial discrimination, really, are lockdowns. In urban areas separating vaccinated from unvaccinated people will create a "Jim Crow" look that is not politically correct so all must be made to suffer.

I know "cases per capita" and "case rate", but I am not familiar with "rates per case."

That was the 1st and most profound thing I noticed, even more so if you run the video of the graph. Just see what is happening since May 2021

Those 2-3 days are usually weekends when numbers are not reported
