I realized I was trying to cheat on my last hearing test, years ago; I could see the technician make a particular move right before the beep. I closed my eyes to avoid that cue.

My best friend of 60+ years was born practically deaf from being an Rh baby, and has had two cochlear implants put in the last few years that have helped her immensely. For the first time in our lives, I am able to speak to her without tapping her shoulder so she turns to look at me to lipread, to help with what little help her hearing aids gave her.

When I get a hearing test and they tell me I have to high-frequency loss in one ear, I just shrug. I have a little trouble hearing certain bird calls when my son the birder visits and we go hiking. But how can I complain about that when my best friend struggled her whole like to hear at all?

I had a hearing test today. It went well and the audiologist said I had not changed much in the 4 and a half years since I first got hearing aids. She will order a new set from the same supplier that are a newer model.

When I got my first ever cell phone about 2 years ago, they installed an ap that enables me to adjust my hearing aids. I find that to be quite helpful.

Resound is the brand and I get them at the VA clinic.

My thought exactly. Why in the world would anyone "hate hearing tests"?
