Those of you who have had the JNJ covid vaccine, what was your experience? Any breakthrough covid infections? I have autoimmune issues and elevated Epstein Barr titers, & other viral titers but am not "sick". So far My Dr has recommended I NOT take any of the covid vaccines but wondered if the JNJ could work for me since its not a mRNA type like the Moderna & Pfizer's vaccines. The big concern is reactivation of viruses, etc that could cause illness and not be able to work.

I had a good friend who had JNJ. He did end up getting Covid afterward but it was mild.

Most people have Epstein-Barr. It is the cause of one of the most common illnesses in America: mononucleosis. Most people have EBV, and most people who have EBV are not sick. The American College of Rheumatology and the Lupus Foundation recommends that if you have lupus, you get the COVID-19 vaccine unless you have a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
I have a friend who is a medical doctor. Her husband had a severe vaccine injury as an adult (he went from being perfectly healthy to Type 1 diabetic in a matter of days). She did a lot of research before deciding to get the J&J vaccine. Fortunately, neither of them had any complications from it.
I would listen to the doctor since he knows your condition and medical issues. They all produce the same immune system responses. You could get a second opinion on the autoimmune disorder. You could ask if a single dose of the 2-dose Pfizer vaccine would be safe. It's supposed to prevent severe disease.

Your doctor advised you NOT to get any of them.
No one on the internet can tell you if any of them will work for you.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would your doc worry about "reactivation of viruses?" How is that supposed to work?....You don't have "viral titers." You have "Ab (to viruses) titers." Big difference.
Perhaps you've misunderstood him-- A challenge to your immune system (like a virus or a vax) can activate your immune system in general, temporarily (that's the source of most of the side effects of a vax- fever, myalgia, headache, etc), but it would be much worse if you were to get the bug....If you only have this vague problem of "autoimmune issues" and not a specific diagnosis with specific signs & symptoms, his concerns may not be warranted and even misguided.
People with impaired or abnormal immunity (auto-immune diseases/ immune suppression from meds/ DM) are relatively abnormal, and the vax is highly recommended for them....People with severe immune deficiency (Bubble Boy situation) may theoretically have problems with the vax (less likely with this novel mRNA type as opposed to older, live attenuated virus types).
I haven't looked into why J&J sought licensure for their vax based on only one injection (~75% immunity) as opposed to the others who submitted applications based on two shots. For theirs, one shot gave 75% success, but two gave 95% successful immunity....Was J&J just in a hurry to cash in?

My guess is that they were trying to cash in on the apprehension of some people over getting two shots a month apart. Claiming single dose efficacy set them apart.
My employer offered Moderna. The only side effect was some minor pain at the injection site after the second dose that lasted for 2-3 days.
