Nevertheless this can be an effective treatment for large wounds.
Maggots will detect the chemistry of the decaying part of the wound they are eating
and secrete a customized secretion that is anti-microbial and has healing properties
while cleaning the wound. They're our little helpers

As you can see, records of their use goes back hundreds of years, and has even been recorded in Australian aborigine and Mayan history.

Probably not, but I'd help you try it. I once had to amputate an animals toes that were maggot infested. It was not fun.
