Sunday morning I had 11 sips (I counted) — about 1/4 cup of coffee and I went to the moon and back. Hopefully withdrawal symptoms are close to a peak this morning
I take it you are not normally a coffee drinker? Or was there something unusual about this particular coffee?
I can't drink Starbuck's coffee anymore, which I could inhale when I was working, up before dawn and running for hours on end. Now retired, if I have even a tall, I will be up all night. I make weak coffee at home and even that is only half coffee and half cream.
Not too much, but I have noticed it varies and is most likely influenced by other things I have eaten or drunk along with the caffeine, my hydration level, plus my frame of mind at the time. If I'm already ramped up over something for example.
OTOH, there was the endless night I spent on the couch in a native association office in Selawik AK. The town's water plant was offline and there was nothing to drink except the pot of leftover cold coffee. I was stranded by bad weather and parched with thirst, so I drank quite a bit of it. Then spent the rest of the night listening to the drunks in the drunk tank next door bellowing out songs in Inupiaq at the top of their lungs . OK, a rather extreme example I know.
Now that my lifelong background arrhythmia has decided to move out of the background I notice the effects of caffeine a bit more, but they are short term. That makes sense...I'm primed to pay more attention and notice them. A mug of chai in the morning or at noon won't affect my sleep that night but it can make the arrhythmia more pronounced for an hour or so. I've always been grateful not to be a caffeine addict. I can take it or leave it. Caffeine was never the reason why I drank whatever it was. Decaf versions are fine.

Yeah. I stopped years ago (it was really hard). Now I only have a little when I really really really need to be awake (to prevent loss of life or dignity). This usually happens about once every two years or so. I though I was being careful … but apparently 11 sips is more than I need. I guess I need both a frownie and a smilie for that.
