When I was younger, I did.

Nowadays I look about my age. Grey and thinning hair does it.

And years of stress (thanks workplace!).

It also has to do with skin tone. Dark Skinned black people can look 20 years younger than they are because you can't see their wrinkles.

Right. 95% of older people look younger than they are. I don't think so.

More like 95% of people will fudge on the safe side of saying someone looks younger rather than older. Should we have another poll to see what % of older people will tell another adult they look older than their age to prove it? I doubt it would even reach 3%.

Yes, people get shocked when I tell them my age.

But I've seen people who are far older than me who look far younger.

People also like to think that others around their age look young. If I have crows feet and smile lines and my jowls have dropped a bit, when I see someone else who looks basically the same as me, I don't want to think, "my, she looks like an old hag." I think, "huh, she's looking pretty good for her age," because that's how I look!

True most people lie about their age but when you get ID for buying lotto or alcohol it tells that you are younger than your age is.

What do you mean? All we had to do as a cashier is look to see that they are over 21. But the computer states "not under age 40." For every sale, there has to be a notation that the customer was "not under age 40." This is in Alabama. I don't know about other state laws.

For videos, it's 17; ammo, it's 16.

No, it just tells you that the cashiers have been instructed to card everyone.

I think people often have an idea in their head about what someone in their 60s or 70s should look like, and so they are surprised when someone who does not look that way really is that age.

I never thought I looked younger, but I have often thought people look older. When I was in my mid-to-late 40s, I would see pregnant women on my commuter train and think, " How is she pregnant when she looks older than me?" Of course a 30-something pregnant woman with a long commute might have been just worn out.
