Anytime you have breathing problems and low oxygen, you're starving the body of a critical component.

This isn't a joke or fake news. This is REAL. I'm just glad in our case that she is in general very healthy, and not as young as some that this hits. But people saying "no big deal" and "don't worry about it", could be culpable if they led someone to not getting checked out, who later got much worse or died.
Or worse - if they have symptoms, don't get it checked out, carry on as usual, consider it "no big deal" and infect a baby who ends up in your granddaughter's situation, or worse.

I mixed up our fourth gallon of saline solution (1 gallon distilled water, 4 Tablespoon non-iodized salt, 4 teaspoons baking soda) this morning. Hubby and I have been using it in a Nasopure Nasal Wash to wash out the mucus. So much mucus.

He tested posted for RSV a week ago, but had been coughing for two weeks before that. I've been sick for two weeks now, so I'm about a week behind him. This past week has been horrible. It's like a bad cold and flu rolled into one. So much mucus

I've been taking Musinex, and drinking hot tea, water, orange juice, ... and drinking mug after mug of Lipton's Cup O Noodle soup. Humidifier is running. Sometimes I put my head over it in an attempt to clear my head. So much mucus.

My ribs hurt from coughing so much. Was told that a neighbor with RSV coughed so hard he developed hernia. If a coughing jag become too much, I take some codeine cough syrup.

This is something else.

My ribs and shoulders ache from coughing so hard, but I am no longer wandering in a daze. So that's good.

The first week I just wanted to curl up and sleep. This second week I've just been sick, not deathly ill. Periods of low grade fevers and sweating. So weak.

We are in our 70's, and from what I understand, the young and the old get it the hardest. But this is something else.

I hope we develop immunities.

Sounds like you got it even worse than I did. Fun, isn't it? Its funny because I didn't cough all that much but I still got incredibly sore. I wanted to cough up the crud so bad but at the same time I didn't want to cough because it hurt so much. This set up some really tight, painful, but useless coughing with my arms wrapped around the front of my torso to reduce the pain.

Been there.

I have never in my life been this sick for this long. Even the top of my head hurts.

Had a bad cold a few months ago, so it's not like my immune system has not gotten a workout in awhile due to Covid protections and isolation.

If I ever come down with this again. I hope I have the sense to quickly make and freeze a bunch of soup. I made a pot of chicken noodle soup when this first started. I should have made 10, but who knew it would last this long? I'm so sick of instant Cup O Noodles.

Alpine instant spiced cider and hot tea have been my go to drinks.

Took me a solid 2 weeks to get my head clear after RSV. The congestion/mucus is no joke w/ this one.

No joke at all.

I've never seen anything like it.

I had no idea RSV was like this.

I warned you on November 26, but it sounds like it may have been too late.

Now let's hope you avoid the rotting-head smell of the sinus infection that followed on its heels for me.

I did not have RSV but it was a head cold and went on and on. The 2nd week of it I started taking NAC that I had been taking during the beginning of covid. I stopped taking when the vaccines started coming out.

I have to say this really helped whatever I had.
