Actually calories in versus calories out is something that should work for everyone based on science. This isn't exactly something that is subjective. Stating that someone is having problems controlling the amount of calories in has nothing to do with the basic equation. If they are taking in more calories they will gain weight, whatever the reason is for it.

Mere coincidence the the use of HFCS in place of sugar took off in the 70's and has grown to include almost all our food at the same pace as obesity has grown ?
They use corn to fatten up cattle.

I wasn't disagreeing with your premise on that, but it has to do with brain chemistry and modern wheat tricking the brain into thinking that you're not full. Therefore, calories consumed will inevitably increase because of that reality.

HFCS in combination with the greater proliferation of all fast foods, frozen foods, and processed foods that contain modern wheat has a large percentage responsibility for the exponential growth in obesity ever since 1985. All the statistics bear that out very clearly. Follow that exponential growth curve on the graph...

Not really. The bigger factor for me really is just getting decent amount of exercise, eating right, and eating in moderation. I got in on some of the pros of WFH for your weight as others have posted... you can cook your own food, more time to do so, and more time to relax/take breaks. I have slept in when WFH which is a boost to one's health.

In modern times, we have cheap calories that wasn't available until very recently. Around 50 years. Compared that to "modern humans" who've been around for 100K years, this is a recent phenomenon that our bodies haven't had enough time to adjust yet (harkens back to where our body hordes fat and resources b/c we may go a long time before we get our next meal).

We live similar lives. Before I eat anything, it's water first. I work nowhere near the kitchen. Fruit is my go-to snack. Especially grapes and sliced apples. I love pistachio nuts, but only with the shells.
I gained 11 during the lock down. It's gone now.
Walking to my gym would not be safe, at this time of year. Too dark and no sidewalks. I have done it in the Spring and Summer, though.

It's a nice stereotype but certainly not true as there are plenty of "prosperous" people that are "fat". The president comment was already addressed by me and another poster but for some reason, the posts were deleted.

Sorry. I have wheat all the time and it's not tricking me. I feel quite full whenever I have a bowl of shredded wheat (fiber tends to do that). There are plenty of health benefits to wheat.

Not for the majority of the population, wheat has deleterious effects in many ways. Glad it doesn't impact you directly. Again, you can find many sources of fiber without ever having to eat wheat containing items.

The majority of the population do indeed get health benefits from wheat. Admittedly there are plenty of people that have made money trying to imply and convince people that wheat is somehow a villian, but unless you have celiac (1% of population) or some form of wheat allergy (about 9% of the population), you will receive many health benefits from eating wheat in moderation (like most things). Unfortunately there is simply way too much misinformation from the gluten free cults out there and people allow themselves to be brainwashed by it (most of which are internet myths).
