You can buy a power flush assist pump that just goes directly into the tank of the existing toilet. You end up with one of those loud "whoosh" sounds like you hear in a public restroom and everything just disappears. We added them to several of our toilets about 5 years ago because my 12 yo has a habit of stopping up toilets.
Don't know what it is about those preteen and teenage-sized turds.

Courtesy flush? Best way to mist your behind with dissolved in water poo particles. Flushing creates an invisible cloud of pee and poop particles containing harmful bacteria called toilet plume. These can be E Coli, Shigella, and C diff.
You should always flush the toilet with the lid down.

I mean, why would one NOT look? If anything, you need to make sure things are "normal" and consistent with previously established patterns.
