After a $170 appointment with a doctor, I told him that I wasn't going to run out of medication for a few months. He said, just call us when you're ready and I can write that prescription. so, 4 1/2 months pass, I contact them about finally getting that prescription written, and now they want to charge me $150 to make a whole new appointment! Is there some sort of law whereby when 90 days pass, a doctors office has to start all over again with a new appointment just to write a prescription? I'm in California.
Was this a renewal of an ongoing prescription that didn't involve any dosage change or does it need review-re-evaluation? Would you be starting a new med? You could have asked the doc to write you a new prescription at the time you brought the subject up, but there are rules governing how far in advance a doctor can write a prescription. It may have more to do with how your insurance works too.
It seems like something is missing, or maybe not if that is the issue.
How often do you see the doctor? Like - do you see him/her for annual physicals? Is this a reoccurring prescription that you should be taking perpetually? Do you need to see the doctor to reassess the condition before writing the prescription?
