Default Dangerous if used too early

My mother-in-law had a lumpectomy performed, and it left a relatively ugly scar. She purchased Mederma and followed the directions carefully. After about three applications the scar tissue became thin and then began to reopen! She immediately went to the doctor, who told her Mederma is affective and safe ONLY if used after the scar is completely healed. Given this advice, I suppose you should wait for quite a while if your scar is a new one. If there is ANY redness or tenderness, you should probably leave this product on the shelf!

That's right. It's most effective on older scars (for some odd reason). I've used it and it works for me. I had a small razor scar on my leg- I used mederma 2x a day on the scar and within 3 weeks, it began to smooth itself out.
