Just wondering for those of you who have had a tubal ligation, did it cause any changes in your body and your monthly cycle? What kind of changes did it cause? I have heard alot of horror stories over the years and was wondering how it affected others.
I had it done and never had any issues with it. In fact, it was nice having the peace of mind with my then hubby and me that I couldn't get pregnant and we could finally stop using protection in that regard.
So, no, I didn't have any problem at all, nothing changed from having that surgery. I did however (a few years later) have a partial hysterectomy and that was an immediate change for me (for the better). I had suffered with really heavy menstrual cycles to the point where I would actually hemorrage.
Anyhoo, the hysterectomy was wonderful and I suggest it to anyone who suffers the same way I used to. I mean lets face it, after you have kids, and you are all done and you have tubal ligation, why keep the uterus? LOL Who needs that monthly visitor or in my case, bi monthly visitor?
after my tubal ligation my periods got really heavy and I had cramping; which I had never had either before. Now it could be that I was not using the Pill (of course) and had been (of course) prior to the tubal. In any event it got to the point that I had maybe one week a month of no bleeding or pain so I opted for a hysterectomy--a complete one!Love life after that--it's wonderful.
Most ladies I know who had the tubal ligation experienced the same issues as I and most ended up going with the total hysterectomy.
Read up on it-- and good luck with everything!
After my tubal ligation (14 yrs ago) I began having slight pain with my right ovary when it ovulates. I also have breast swelling/tenderness. I never noticed these things before the tubal ligation.
My tubal was my 40th b'day present!!!
No problems whatsoever!
Course if I had known that 3 years later I would have to have a hysterectomy I probably wouldn't have done it.
I was just curious what the percentage was of women with no problems. I had mine done in Oct 05 and had alot of friends telling me not to do it, thank goodness it was a good thing for me. The worst part for me was the recovery, it was more painful than I thought it should be for 2 little holes in my stomach. I was almost 40, having bp problems that were not compatiable with bc pills. So this was a good option for me, that it worked out that I have no problems was definately a plus when you read some of the horror stories associated with it.
I can't imagine what kind of horror stories you have heard. I had a tubal 10 years ago and have had absolutely no problems at all.
