Wow, 6 cups a day? I didn't even drink 6 cups last year. lol I'm not a coffee drinker, but I would say 6 cups is definitely to much. I guess you could have worse habits though.
6 cups would be a minimum for me, however, that is instant coffee as opposed to brewed coffee. Just to digress here if I may, my father, (long dead), was a tea drinker most of his life. He had kidney stones from the age of 17 and on the last hospital visit for stones a specialist told him that of all the patients he sees regarding kidney stones, the vast majority of them had been tea drinkers. He stated that he had no other statistics to offer but suggested to him that he consider drinking coffee instead of tea. He died at age 83 but he never had another kidney stone. I thought I would just include this here in case there may be some merit in what that specialist told him. It suggests to me that coffee is a good diuretic and helps in flushing the kidneys. I would swap to percolated or plunger coffee tomorrow but is a little too time consuming, and I can't keep it brewing as it finishes up like bitumen to drink and would probably be strong enough to 'kill a brown dog' so to speak.

That's an interesting story, actually. I am not sure if my advice would be to replace coffee with tea necessarily though. I think most people are just saying that 6 cups is way too much.
Oh, and I hate being a downer...but I'm curious why would you pick instant coffee over brewed and why would you think it's better for you? As far as I understand, they put a lot of chemicals into instant coffee.
On another note, if a person drinks a lot of coffee, he must make sure it's ORGANIC. Coffee is very heavily sprayed crop. Coffee that's not organic is LACED with pesticides.
6 cups?! WOW.
Have you considered going to a half caffienated, half not blend? There are several out there. I know Folger and Maxwell House have some.
You can at least have your coffee with out as strong a jolt of the caffiene,
And you could even mix in regular to the half and half, to further break it down.
You brew it/make it just like regular coffee, but it's made out of figs, dates, barley, etc... There is ZERO caffeine in it, because it's not coffee. But the way they mixed the ingredients make it taste like one. A LOT. The closest thing I found to coffee, and I have tried many other options before.
It comes in different flavors as well as regular java.
It also has some pottassium in it, which can give you an energy boost. Perhaps you can drink coffee in the morning and at around 4, and use Teeccino in between.

Did he have a lot of dairy? Tannic acids in tea and dairy = kidney stones.
Some other coffee tips:
- decaf should be done by the swiss water process only.
- dark roasts have less caffine than light roasts
- In cutting back put decaf and regular in the pot. It will tastes right because of teh regular but you can cut caffine by adding half decaf and half regular.
And chemical sweeteners are far worse for you than coffee. Coffee doesnt come with a warning label. Sweeteners do.
it all started with one cup of coffee in the morning now its up to 6 a day .some say i am drinking to much is this true ???
Why!?!?!! Is there something wrong with drinking 6 cups a day??!!! Idrink6cupsadayandifeel great!!!
