Zoloft is probably the "mildest" of the ADs in terms of side effects.

You're welcome. I have been taking a very low dose (25 mg) for about 11 yrs, on a psychiatrists advice. I have had 2 episodes where depression interfered with my life and he wanted me on it as a preventative measure. No more episodes since then, except when I was on Cymbalta and went off it (acutely suicidal).

We have painkillers and sedatives to help ease purely physical medical symptoms. The new drugs like Zoloft are a wonderful step forward, now we have something to help ease mental symptoms caused by physiological changes, menopause being an important example. I say if they work, use 'em.

HELP! Loss of motivation w/a special needs 14 year old. I really need help with loss of motivation. I went from a clean freak to a person that now lies in her bed and watches tv all day. When in the past I hated tv to me it was a waste of time and now that is all I do. My 14 year old needs me an I feel like the worst person in the entire world dont get me wrong she is taken care of. But in the past I would cook everyday for my family and now I go thru a drive thru for them. I am on the combi patch it helps with hot flashes which is a tremendous help because I was unable to sleep because of them but now I need help with lack of motivation. I have Zoloft (generic) but dont know if it is safe to take both this and combipatch?

I don't really have hot flashes now but do occasionally get sweats. I also find I clench my jaw a lot and I seem to feel anxious at times. None of the side effects are bad enough to outweigh the positive effects. The anxious feeling is probably the thing that bothers me the most. Maybe the dose will need to be adjusted. I was just curious if anyone else had tried the Zoloft for menopause and their results. Please don't let this turn into a thread about natural cures vs. prescription drugs.
The clenching of the jaw is concerning. Talk to your doctor about the possibility of Tardive Dyskinesia, which is a side affect. Do you find that you have tics in your face where maybe you grimace or have twitches a lot?

That OP's post was posted in August of 2008 - almost five years ago. I hope they got their situation resolved by now!

Well perhaps it can help someone else that is on this type of medication and showing facial tics and jaw clenching. If Tardive Dyskinesia is not treated quick enough it can be permanent.
