I'm just curious. Mine is 97.5, and my daughter tends to the low side as well. For many years, 98.6 was accepted as normal, but recently it has gone down to 98.2. (I'm sick with a bad cold, and I obviously have way too much time on my hands! )

I've measured mine as low as 95.8...it's very rare I even get up to 98.6. When I have a fever it's a big deal.

Pre-ovulation, my normal waking temperature is between 96.8 and 97.1 most of the time. Post-ovulation, 97.6-98.0. I don't know if my temp normally fluctuates as much in the afternoons.... I know that it's supposed to get higher as the day wears on and then drops again while you sleep.

If you have found your temp to be low and you're in the first half of your cycle (assuming you're a woman who has monthly cycles), try doing it again closer to the time that you expect your period, but before it starts, and see if it's higher. The added progesterone that your body makes after you ovulate is what causes your temperature to rise, but it's not by much, only about a degree or so.

(I didn't know thaqt 9.2 was now considered normal. Interesting!)

I was just testing my tempature and I saw that it was 97.8. Five minutes ago it was 99.4. Right now I am testing it again and it says that I am now.... 98.2. I am really confused because I thought that you were only supossed to have one body temp. all the time. Then I researched it and it said that as long as it was higher than 92.0 and lower than 100.0 it's okay. But it also said that if it changes 4 degrees more or less in ten minutes then you should talk to a doctor. I am checking my tempature again and now it says that I am 96.1. I guess I change a lot.

Well, it's the day and age of digital therm's . My doctor says none of them are really that accurate but it beats having mercury all over your tile floor. lol He says the only way to get a true temp is with the old fashioned thermometer. I didn't ask if it had to be up the bum. he he

Mine's on the slightly low side, usually in the 97s.

Mine's 97.3. I always thought that was weird. It's nice to read that other people have normal temps that aren't 98.6 or 98.2 or whatever.

98.6 is the AVERAGE normal temperature. Normal is what is usual for you. And it will change during the day. It shouldn't be a big change unless you recently ate or drank something hot or cold. Or maybe just left an overheated room or a chilly outdoors. Your temperature also drops during sleep. Very slight infections that you may not even be aware of, will raise your temperature as your body fights the infection. That's Mother Nature's way of keeping us healthy.

Very true....

What is "normal" also tends toward lower temps as we age...

Mine ranges from 97.1 to 97.5. When it's 98.6, I consider that a low-grade fever.
