I was told recently by my doctor that I have fibroids growing inside and outside my uterus. I have an appointment coming up where she will discuss the options I have for treatment. My question is in regards to the effects fibroids give you. I have had severe nausea for about three months and can go days with out eating due to the nausea. I also feel very bloated for some reason as if my stomach is full of air. I also have many other symptoms as well.
Has anyone else had problems or knew someone that had fibroids and had symptoms like mine? How did you deal with them and what type of treatment did you receive. I'm really scared that I may not be able to have children after this ordeal is over.

Has your doctor confirmed that the fibroids are causing your symptoms? I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids about two years ago. They are asymptomatic for me, but everyone is different.

I was diagnosed with seven fibroids in 1998 and told I need a hysterectomy, but after doing some research and talking to another doctor I discovered there are many other options. Mine don't bother me, I never did anything about them, now I'm in menopause, search for options on the internet, there so many, if you doctor even hints at hysterectomy, get at least two more opinions!!!!

Yes, the doctor said I do have them and their kind of bad. She did an hysteroscopy and I actually saw one of them. So far she told me I might not need a hysterectomy and if she does, I will certainly get a second opinion.

I know this is an old post but I thought I might give some insight. My sister just had fibroid removal surgery in January. She had many tumors and one was as big as a baseball. Hers caused her abdomen to protrude and she looked pregnant. The surgeon couldn't promise that he wouldn't take and ovary or do a hysterectomy. He just didn't know until he got in there. The surgery took twice as long as it should have and he called in another doctor. In the end he did everything possible to save her uterus/ovaries. She does not have children. He said that if she had children he would have done a hysterectomy. The tumors will grow back and in about 5 years she will have to have a hysterectomy whether she has children or not.
Just make sure you really need a hysterectomy. My sister's tumor was HUGE and she had at least 25 other tumors. Her uterus/ovaries were able to be saved.

Fibroids can be eliminated--- virtually melted shrunk or however you want to describe it with strict diet and supplenents using natural medicine or you can go the conventional medical route and hae surgery to CUT them out. The Natural route will be permanent because it will get rid of them by eliminating the CAUSE of the problem. The conventional route will just cut out the Fibroids and whatever caused them to grow in the first place will not be addressed.
I prefer getting at the ROOT of the problem and getting RID of the condition or disease permanently ...for a lot less cost (but often requiring a lot more work on my part ie giving up favorite foods during healing).
If you want to know how to get a hold of a good Naturopath, you can direct message me and I'll be happy to tell you who I use who has patients world wide and consults via telephone for out of area patients.

There are a number of options available. I would suggest you see a gynecologist with experience in all the methods of treatment. [mod] need more than 10 posts to make specific recommendations [/mod]
