I just hear there is a shot for the shingles so you don't get them. The shot is very pricey also. Has anyone got it, and i was wondering if insurance covers it? My insurance said yes, however at the dr. office they said if not
I would be out 275.00 for the cost.

It is a vaccine and contact your particular carrier. You may need to pay for it up front, then ask for reimbursement from insurance....
I treated a family member for shingles a few years ago using Electrolytically Isolated Silver (colloidal silver) produced by myself and documented the recovery on a daily basis as a 'case study' 'til resolution which took around 12 days. The 'blisters' or 'puscules' or whatever they are called seemed to heal from the inside as only two or three 'broke out' so to speak, the rest just receeded and went away. Without digging that information out he only took pain killers and took them for around 5 days or so from memory during this treatment. I was well pleased with the result....and so was he, and it didn't cost him anything! But by geez I've seen pictures of what shingles *can* look like if it gets out of control and they didn't look too good, unless they were just 'publicity' pics?
Personally, I'm not a big fan of vaccines. I had shingles a few years in a row in my 20's. Typically triggered by stress. If you have had chicken pox as a kid, then the virus that causes shingles is already in your body and it's just a matter of whether or not your immune system gets weak enough for it to surface. I tried all sorts of things for the shingles when I had them... fyi, any type of stress reduction and high quality antioxidants I recommend- haven't had them again since I've been taking the best antioxidants daily. ...and no colds/flus either.
I was at the doctors office about a year ago when a lady came in asking if they had the shot and how much it was. They told her they had it and it was $275 and insurance didn't pay for it. THAT really puzzeled me as to why insurance wouldn't pay for it..
At least NOW, they realize shingles DO hurt! I knew a lady that had them about 10 years ago that sat up all night crying in pain from them and the doctors told her family they were not painful and she was only doing it for attention. I asked my sister WHY anyone would claim to be in that much pain when they weren't and why couldn't they do something for her? THANK GOD those doctors now realize they ARE painful and will help people with the pain now...

If you knew what shingles were, you would know there is no possible way on earth colloidal silver could have ANY effect on them....either positive or negative..
Your "treatment" did nothing....but your family member is lucky he she was not left with debilitating chronic neuropathic pain, post herpetic neuralgia, which can occur after a bout of shingles if they are not "correctly" treated with an appropriate antiviral...
By the way, as far as your "case" study, if you had done nothing at all the rash would have likely disappeared in 12 days also..
"The rash starts as blisters that scab after 3 to 5 days. The rash usually clears within 2 to 4 weeks."

This is not news that shingles hurt....
Shingles have been around and documented as long as people have been around...
The "pain" associated with shingles has been recorded since ancient times...
