Sorry to bring back an old post, but I had this last week. It was very annoying having to constantly swallow every two minutes. For me, the reason was taking too much Vitamin D. I also have TMJ flare ups sometimes and found that Vit D helps a little, however it also causes the excretion of saliva. You wont find this mentioned on any medical website either, but as soon as I decided to stop taking two Vit D supplements per day, my hypersalivation problem stopped very quickly.
I know this is an old thread but wanted to comment. Excess saliva could be nothing serious or it could be a symptom of a bigger problem. A co-worker's husband had excess saliva and it turned out it was a sign of his stomach cancer. That's probably not common but wanted to put it out there in case it was helpful to someone.
Strange....since early signs of stomach cancer typically has more common symptoms such as vomitting, weight loss, bloody stools, etc...
