Seems in the last year I've been loaded up with just about every pill you can throw at a person, including blood pressure med and diabetes meds. Yes,I know, both conditions are nothing to be ignored, need to be treated, etc.

But since being on all that I've felt worse, not better, especially dizzy spells, vomiting episodes, etc. I dropped those meds for a few days and feel much better. My plan is to see if I really need all that by cutting the dose down and monitoring BP and glucose religiously, see how I run.

All that was based on a few simple tests done in the doc's office, BP does vary, and so can blood glucose. My H-1c levels are always normal, I told them I had just had a big gulp coke before they did the finger prick test for glucose (didn't know they were going to do it then), its predictable my glucose would have been somewhat high then.

Also, BP does tend to vary within circumstances, I need to monitor it almost hourly for a few days to see how I truly run.

I think all that stuff is making me worse, along with prevacid, that made my stomach slow down to the point I was throwing up undigested pills! I told doc I was throwing up undigested pills, he said noting is digested in the stomach, its all digested in the intestines, anyways. Huh? These were pills I'd taken 2-3 days ago, they just sat there undigested, then came up, what if they got absorbed all at once and I got an overdose?

I plan to go back to square one, perhaps get a new doc and new evaluation, start from scratch, see what someone else thinks, not just keep doing the same thing because it was prescribed over a year ago, perhaps my BP and sugar were a bit high then, but things change.

You're a pharmaceutical company's dream .... Yes, your conditions are serious, but I wonder if they can be controled with changes in diet and lifestyle. Plus, I would really look into getting a new doctor!

It seems so many medical professionals just love to throw pills at every ill they can find, and even when they can't find anything. Of course, from the doctor's point of view, so many patients leave their office upset if nothing was prescribed... Sheesh, go figure.

Personally, I'd rather NOT take any medication. My doc wanted to prescribe a statin...in the belief that statins are good drugs, everyone should be taking them. I politely declined.

Drugs are chemicals, I think we get enough chemicals in our bodies every day from our environment, I don't like adding to that if I can help it. Yes, sometimes prescribed drugs are necessary, but I don't think of them as a requirement. The pharmaceutical companies are laughing all the way to the bank! (The banks are laughing too!)

Good luck to you!

Thru lifestyle change over the last year I am off all meds-BP, cholesterol. My doctor kept saying take the BP's-well in April I felt awful one night, only made it to my hall where I passed out. DH called 911-I had no BP 0/0, remember nothing til ER and seeing so many people over e. At that point I was 40/30. EMT's told me they were very concerned and scared.

Point is we know our bodies-the doctors know what they interpret from tests.

If he had listened to me I could've avoided a stay in ICU!

I monitor my pressure with a machine that does 3 reading in 3 minutes and averages-I am usually 104/70 with no meds now.

My DH is going thru the same thing and they will not listen-so I monitor him.

We and we alone are the keepers of our health.

In order to know if you're truly a diabetic, you need to have a fasting blood glucose test. That involves drinking some really sweet stuff they give you and having your blood checked over a couple hours. If you're taking Metformin for the diabetes, that can cause stomach problems in the beginning.

Statins are brilliant drugs and have made a huge contribution to the reduction in numbers of heart attacks and strokes.
They can reduce your cholesterol levels by far more than any dietary modifications ever will.

I'm sorry you had such an incident, it sounds exactly like what almost happened to me. I was sitting at my computer, felt "weird' called my son, told him to stay close, I was "going under". He helped me lay down, it passed, I took BP, was normal, but that doesn't mean it was normal when i had that "spell". I did have a doc tell me BP meds can "bottom out" so perhaps cut back, or cut out, I really need to readjust all these meds!

I know, but they never will do a fasting blood glucose, even went to an endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes, all she did was a finger prick test!

That makes no sense! That endocrinologist needs to go back to school, IMHO.

A normal HbA1c is the opposite indicator of diabetes. It measures an average glucose over about 3 months back from the day the blood was drawn.

She did, at my request, an HbA1c, said it was normal, then did a fructosamine, said I was diabetic, put me on glucophage, 4x day, I've thrown them up, had dizzy spells, almost passed out, blood sugar is normal with or without it,now her office refuses to see me, they say I owe them $2000+, they filed my insurance wrong, they keep saying I gave them the wrong insurance, I keep telling them they screwed it up, they turned me over to collection, won't even work with me to straighten out the bill!

I am diabetic and although I am not a physician, I seriously doubt you are diabetic. From an online lab test site: "
Since the fructosamine concentrations of well-controlled diabetics may overlap with those of non-diabetics, the fructosamine test is not useful as a screen for diabetes."

Try your family practice doctor!
