Okay so I was asked today if drinking two or three beers a day is bad? I brew my own beer and love craft beer for the taste, so I would have to say no.

If you agree with me and or not, please let me know what you think the minimum is for one to many.

I think 4 or 5 beers a day is stretching it. Remember, its beer not hard "A"

The answer is definitely no. I wish I could say I only drank 2 beers a day. The amount I drink is unhealthy, but it is way more than 2. A small amount of alcohol is actually beneficial for you.

It doesn't matter if it's not "hard A" in your opinion. One drink is considered one 12 oz. beer, 1 oz. of hard liquor and a glass of 6 oz. of wine. It all boils down to the same.

I have a glass or two of wine most nights, I do not consider myself an alcoholic.

I would think one has a problem if they cannot seem to feel like they can function w/o that drink.

I knew an old German man who drank two mugs a night with dinner all his adult life...lived to be in his early 90's.

I think two is fine unless you go really berserk if for some reason you don't get those beers one day...

Drinking problems are mental. Its more about your state of mind when drinking and not drinking.

Bing Health Article - Alcoholism (http://www.bing.com/health/article.aspx?id=articles%2fmc%2fpages%2f1%2fDS0034 0.html&br=lv&q=alcoholism - broken link)

It does not matter if its beer, wine or other.

I think alot also depends on your genetic background and where your culture hails from. It was mentioned here about the German above. No doubt there are some allowances for a strong genetic tollerance if the culture has had this for hundreds of years and generations, although I'm sure there are exceptions.

On another note, I've also got Asian friends (Chinese/Japanese) who can have a few sips of a drink and the blush in the face. It's not that they are drunk, it's just the reaction to the alcohol.

I know some goofs balls from the past who'd drink a six pack a day. Apparently they thought because it came package as six, why that must be the daily recommended allowance.

Bottomline is moderation for most things.
