I had my gallbladder removed. For years I had heartburn. I had one huge gallbladder attack and had surgery that day. I had a lot of pain on the right side, like under my rib area and it shot into my back. I had pretty bad pain that a ton of Motrin didn't even touch. You might consider getting a gallbladder series done to see if you have stones. I had no stones, just a very bad gallbladder.

My DH had his gallbladder removed on an emergency basis. A stone had traveled outside the gallbladder and was blocking the pancreatic duct. He was in severe pain and the situation could be life-threatening.

Post surgery, he's doing great. No digestive issues at all except if he forgets and eats something fatty/greasy--like French Fries. Then he will get the runs. We eat little to no fried food at home, so it's not a big issue.

Otherwise, he's doing so well.

Also, his abdomen has gone down in size. The Doc had told me DH had a huge gallbladder, filled with stones and sludge. He now takes a size smaller in waist size.

Likely he'd had the gallbladder issue for a while, but didn't know until the attacks started. That last one was a doozy--he looked green.

Recovery went smoothly...so glad he's pain-free.

Gallbladder removal is no the end to all your gut/upper gi problems. The stones are a problem, but somthing caused them in the first place......I became sicker after the operation, tha was 20 years ago.. I have suffered pains and bowl problems ever since. Now the specialists think I may have Chrons or a version thereof....I think somethings we are destined to endure, for our entire life.
