I'm never sure what the difference is other than temperature, and have NO clue what one to buy so I tend to vary them - one day the vaporizer and one day the humidifier.
As soon as cold weather and colds hit we use the vaporizer. The warm steam seems to help quite a bit with easing congestion and stuffy noses. I don't think viruses like it either.
