I meant the production of food. Tons of water goes into the production of certain foods (beef probably being the worst). It depends on a lot of factors but I generally see estimates that producing one quarter pound burger requires as much water as 25 to 30 showers. It's not just meat. Coffee, wine, and many other products require a lot of water too.
No way would I ever get into bed without bathing. In the summer, if we're going "out" for the evening, I will bathe before I dress for the night out...then a quick rinse before going to bed. I NEVER, EVER get into bed without rinsing!
I love hot baths and find them relaxing. I generally take one a day, usually when I'm getting dressed for the day. Of course, if I work hard and/or outside or otherwise get dirty, I take one again in the evening.
Kind of funny in that back in the 50's we and children bathed more or less as needed and children used same water,do not ask me why.As I remember our water bill was 6 months for a very small amount and electric around $30 for 60 days.We read our own meter's on a card and mailed back probably on penney post card.I asked my wife this question some time ago.Now if I do not rinse off daily I feel yucky.
Times have changed and not for the better, was nice to have small town feel.
I remember sharing bathwater with my siblings as a very small child. There were four of us, and my mother bathed us two at a time. I don't remember whether or not she changed the bathwater between bathing shifts.
I also remember when we visited our grandparents, other family members in the summers at their poultry farm in upstate NY. They got their water from a cistern, it was dependent on rainfall/ snowfall and water could be a problem, so there had to be some pretty severe conservation.
The house had one bathroom, and bathtime was once a week. There were eight children total, me and the siblings, and four cousins. I recall my aunt drawing one bath water for me and my sibs ( we took turns bathing, either two at a time, or one at a time over the years, depending on how big we had gotten), and a fresh bath water for my four cousins. I remember that water was pretty gross after 4 kids bathed in it.
I don't take baths because you soak in your own filth. That's gross.
