Every couple of months or so, my daughter gets sick, seems like she has a sort of a stomach virus. She gets wheezy, has a cough, fever, and vomiting. It usually lasts 1-2 days. This has been going on for a couple years now. I really don't think that this is normal. Especially since it has come to the point that it is something that I expect to happen. I understand that kids can get sick, but the exact same sickness so frequently? I have mentioned this to her doctor, and she basically said it is nothing to worry about. Any thoughts?
Keep a diary and mark down exactly when it occurs and then try and pin it down further. For example does anything coincide with these occurrances? If you can give you doctor more information then he/she might be able to be more helpful. In health, knowledge is power and you are more likely to get to the bottom of a condition if you are more informed about it. Maybe it is a buildup of some substance or drug that she is taking? Write down everything you can think of because, like a detective, you need to be able to piece together seemingly unrelated things. cough/wheezes sound like an allergy of somekind - is that possible? Good luck.

Go over her environment both at home and everywhere else she goes with a fine tooth comb as well as her diet. I believe you will find a common cause in due time for her illness. The doctor only see her during visits. YOU see her all the time.
Thanks! I never thought about mold. Her school and our house are both old. But I would suspect our house first, as she is only in preschool. So before she went to school she was getting sick. But no one else gets sick here...but I will keep track of her eating habits, and try to get a second opinion.

Adults and small childern have vastly different lung capacity and resistance.
I'd strongly suggest that you get that girl to an allergist ASAP! He life may depend on it!!
Hi. I would ask for a referal to a specialist. Often gp's don't look outside the box. For 2 years I used to get the flu with a fever. It would go away and then a month later came back. They never knew what it was. I have other health conditions now seperate though who knows what is connected and not. Anyhow through these conditions I have seen many specialists and what I have learned is it is very important to get another opinion and to go with your gut too.
Your daughter may be suffering from allergies (food or otherwise), or less commonly a Primary Immune Deficiency. PID's are suspected when a child has frequent illnesses and does not seem to "bounce back" as he/she once did, or as his/her siblings do. PID patients very frequently have gastrointestinal symptoms in addition to frequent infections.
Ask your pediatrician for a referral to an Immunologist. It also sounds like you need to get a new pediatrician, one who will listen to your concerns.
Hope you find some answers!
