A hangover is caused by dehydration, and cheap alcohol. Have a glass of water before you go to sleep and keep another at bedside that you can sip from during the night. It will minimize the effects of the hangover the next morning.

Since hangovers are usually the result of dehydration, I agree with Moonlady's advice ... although I also agree with opalminor's advice.

Yup...hydration.Excedrin used to do a great job for me if there's a major headache involved.
Airline friends I had when younger, swore that a few whiffs of oxygen put them in 'working' condition.

Not having access to that I did apply the theory and found out that going outdoors and inhaling some fresh air while you drink your water (with or without the Excedrin) helped also.
Being older and wiser now, it is easier all around, to prevent them than cure them

In my drinking days, I would take a B complex vitamin and drink water before bed, also keep water at the bedside. You can take it in the morning too, but before bed gives better results. Usually I would not have to take aspirin or painkillers the next day.

Red wine and dark liquors produce more severe hangovers. For me, cheap beer was always the worst.

An ideal morning after meal for me would be menudo, or potato & egg tacos with kechup. Breakfast of champions!

Banana is a best remedy for hangover.

Sugar in the form of fructose, and potassium, which is one of the things you lose lots of when you drink. Bananas are also a natural antacid to help with the nausea, and are high in magnesium which can help relax those pounding blood vessels causing that hangover headache. For a variety of reasons try a peanut butter, honey and banana sandwich on white bread.

Back from college days.......
Glass of water between drinks.
Something greasy the next morning like a sausage biscuit and hash browns.
For real.
OF course nowadays my big splurge is a 4 oz glass of sherry or wine.........maybe once a month.

Big, greasy breakfast buffet. Everytime I'm at a raucous hotel party, we all stumble down in the morning for eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes..always the breakfast potatoes. Juice settles your stomach and the rest coats it to heal the wounds. Once you're done settling the stomach, a big glass of water and a cup of coffee always does the trick for me.

If done on the regular, that will destroy one's liver. Good to hear you don't do that anymore.
