Using MaryleeII's logic, that means either all the women who choose same gender OB GYN care are either sexist or lesbian!

It matters a lot. I would only accept treatment from a male doctor.

Overall, after all of the bad experiences with male doctors I've had in the last year or two, I think I'm going to only seek out female doctors in the future. I think they're more sensitive, caring and, quite frankly, don't have the jerk personality that most male doctors I've encountered seem to.
I'm a guy--from my experience, in dealing with Primary Care Dr.'s at least, the male doctors are way more likely to be rude, aggressive, really nasty Pr***s. Specialists, usually the male doctors are fine. I have encountered a couple of pretty odd female dermatologists along the way.

One of the most awful "medical professionals" I've ever encounter was a female NP. Have you seen the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"? This NP was Nurse Ratched incarnate. One of those Bullies in a "Minor Position" perhaps, who gets off on being mean & terrorizing people.

Ironically, my Primary Care Dr. there was also female, & I really liked her. But NP "Nurse Ratched" would write down such negative stuff in her notes about me--(she really disliked, & dis-respected me)--when I encountered her, that I finally had to leave that medical practice......

After I left there, early this year, I went to a different medical group & picked a young male Primary Care Dr.--the rudest, nastiest, young arrogant Dr. I've ever encountered. He literally went on a long rant against me on the first visit, much like the female NP at the previous place. All I was doing was trying to get medical care, but this young (Yale grad) guy was like a clownish, incredibly rude nasty caricature of a Dr.

I never went back. I picked a new (female) Primary Care Dr. at yet another medical practice. So far, she is one of the nicest, most attentive Doctors I've ever encountered.......

Woody, men usually suffer a lot more trouble with gender based decisions. People can't accept a man can say no to a female doctor. I certainly wouldn't let a female doctor ever touch me.

Well that certainly won't be a problem since you proudly proclaim you never see a doctor and think they are useless and your father, who is a doctor, agrees with you, especially about specialists and pediatricians in particular.

Why? Especially the part about men having more trouble with "gender based decisions", since I've more often read the opposite is more likely.
Sincerely curious.

I'm female and voted "truly do not care."
Although the one time I had a pelvic exam done by a very cute young doctor young enough to be my son, I did feel a little funny about it but kept telling myself I was being irrational!

It doesn't really matter to me. My wife prefers a female, especially when her mommy parts are concerned. Personally I don't think men really have any business in gynecology. They cannot empathize with their patients.

I've never been to a doctor in my life but if I had to choose, it would certainly be a man. Have no trust in female doctors.
