Need some ideas what could be wrong with my dh.

About a week ago, he felt he strained his shoulder lifting some equipment at work, but it didn't seem serious. However, last Sat he woke up with an intense pain in his right shoulder. he said it felt like a crick in his neck, like he slept on it wrong.

It seemed to get better with some Naprosyn and heating pad, but it keeps coming back. He saw a doc yesterday, not an orthopedic surgeon, just a family practice guy, but he liked the doc well enough. The doc said its just a muscle strain and gave him some pain pills and muscle relaxant. Today he was barely able to drive due to pain from his shoulder.

He says the muscles from his neck to his shoulder will "twitch" and says it feels like something is straining to dislocate. I told him to get a sling (can buy them at the drug store) to give some relief. I'm surprised the doc didn't reccomend that.

Any ideas what this could be, other than a strained muscle? If it was related to an injury it would have been more immediate, rather than gradual onset and worsening. At least that's how I would see it.

And, I just bought him an exercise program--P90X! It seemed so good for use at home, hmmm..maybe send it back? Well, it does have a 60 MBG!
