Bedbugs also give a room a characteristic sweet odor
Thank you Harry! I have been laughed at so many times when I tell people I can smell them!

Check the seams of the pillow cases and comforters and mattress in seams for bed bugs if that is the suspect. They are very good at hiding. I've lived someplace where we had them but I couldn't smell them (I have no doubt you can in some instances).

A cluster or a number of bites could be the bed bug cvariety. A single bite is just one insect that has access to your bed. I used to have my window next to the bed open at night...even with a screen something would still enter the window area.

I would try spraying a insecticide around the window frame where it/they could be crawling inside.

Where I live here in Baja we have these black (not sure what they are called) things with two I call antennas at the rear. They like the dark and hate bright sun or light. I sprayed the concrete in front of my garage door and they crawl on the cement about 2-3 feet inside the garage where they end up dieing.

Had similiar problem where a couple got inside my kitchen and after I sprayed a little would find them dead on the open floor.

Did find some yrs back where my bushs and plants that were thick outside the bedroom window allowed them easy access.

I would look at all possibilities...never know.

Steve

My husband and I battled with a similar situation for about 8 months.

We were waking up every morning with 2-3 new bites, mostly on our torso and legs. It was absolutely frustrating and annoying! After ruling out bed bugs, mosquitoes (we live in southern California...not too many mosquitoes here), fleas, and spiders...we finally found the cause. We were being bitten by bird mites.

Here's the story...we had low hanging trees near our old wooden windows, and discovered a vacant birds nest in one of the trees. We had heard about mites, so we and started scouring the internet for more information. One day, while staring at the window sill searching for some sign of a bug, I finally saw them. They were absolutely tiny bugs. But I was able to catch a few with some masking tape and had a pest control company analyze it. Bird mites. We had the house and crawl space fogged twice. Finally...the battle was over and the biting stopped.

Good luck to you!

I've been having the same problem the past couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure it's turning out to be regular house ants, because I found three dead in my sheets-YUCK! DH sprayed inside and outside today, so we'll see in a couple of days, I guess. Meanwhile I'm sleeping on the sofa!

That's exactly what I was going to say. What many ppl fail to realize, is that you can have fleas in your home and not own a pet. Fleas come in on your clothing and shoes and other ppl can bring them from their home as well.

I am being bit during the night. I have inspected my bed for any signs of bed bugs and don't see anything. I have used bed bug sprays all through the box springs and the mattress. I am continuing to be bit. I am at my whit end. I saw one morning a very very tiny red bug underneath my pillow. Had it not moved I wouldn't have realized it was alive. I am being bit about 3-4 times per night but not in the same area. Can someone please tell me what I am dealing with? I am sleeping on a air mattress and I am still being bit. I have dark circles under my eyes because I don't want to close them for fear of being bitten.

Could it be mosquito bites?

My kids were waking up with red welts on their legs, and when I took them to the doctor, he said it was mosquito bites and to go home and look for a water leak. I had plastic bins on their closet floor, and when I moved them, I found that the carpet was soaked from a pipe leaking in the bathroom wall. Once it was fixed and the carpet dried out, the problem went away.
