First off, DON'T TRY TO DIAGNOSE YOURSELF from the internet.
I''ve had those symptons on and off for years.
Mine is from inner ear infections that stem form bad colds or sinus infections.
The feeling like you are going to die part may be anxiety or panic attacks brought on by not knowing whats wrong.
Last time I had that it was really bad. Went to ER and spent two days doing blood work, CT scans, MRI, etc. They didn't find anything wrong that would cause that.
I was afraid I had a brain tumor, clogged carotid arteries, or who knows what else. But I'm 63 years old so all that was a possiblilty.
You should get a battery of tests done to either find the problem or relieve you of the fear of something serious causing your dizzyness.
You hopefully have some minor problem that can be treated with proper medication. Or if there is something more major now is the time to find out so it can be taken care of in the early stages.
I'm not trying to scare you. But it is something that should be checked out.
I scared myself to death trying to figure out what was wrong with me by searching the internent.
After years of on and off with this stuff I found out it was chronic sinusitus that was causing inner ear infections that got me all messed up with equilibrium and feeling dizzy. I haven't had a spell in in way over a year.
For your own peace of mind and proper treatment, you should get a full workup and tests to rule out serious problems and find out the cause so it can be treated.
There were days when I couldn't do anything but lay in bed or sit in a chair. I hated that and I was scared. I finaly stopped trying to treat myself and got help that took care of the situation.
Your doctor should stop throwing darts and order a full exam.
I wish you the best. I know how it feels.
And if you have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) that can be a sign of inner ear infection. I've had that for over 30 years but mine is caused from loud noise from the kind of work I did all my life. But it always got worse when the inner ear infections came around.

im 26 male 6ft, 95kg/15.2 stone ill start cheacking it all the time, if you tell me what mine should be that would be great also if its lower/higher than what you say! how low/high is bad?

thank you for your help

It could still be just a viral infection of the inner ear.

There are normally instructions that come with the blood pressure monitor that go into high, low, normal, BP.
In general:
Normal, Systolic less than 130, Diastolic less than 85.
High Normal, Systolic130-139, Diastolic 85-89.
Hypertension, Systolic more than 140, Diastolic more than 90.
These are what my BP monitor’s instructions say.
I can only assume that lower than these is considered low, but I am not a Doctor.
If you keep track of the results, you can show your Doctor and give him a better idea of what’s wrong, that is if there is anything.
I have had higher readings than any of these and still the Doctor chose not to treat, I have brought my BP down by diet and exercise.

I just checked mine and it reads: Systolic 137, Diastolic 84, Pulse 100, but that’s alright for me.

P.S. Don’t overstress yourself, it will mess up the results.

Good Luck.

I used to have vertigo, it was from skeletal/muscular problems in my neck, once I had it under control the problem went away. Running isn't for everyone.

There is a simple test for vertigo. My MD had me sit on an exam table so that if I would lay down on my back, my head & shoulders would be over the edge. Then he had me sit up, held my shoulders and had me quickly lay down -- keeping my eyes wide open and head off the table ( remember, he was holding me so I did not fall). Evidently, if you truly have vertigo, this motion disorients your balance system -- your eyes will roll around. [He gave me meclazine (sp?) ... it cleared it up in less than a week.]

If you don't feel it is vertigo, go get a second opinion from a neurologist or an ent. I had vertigo for many years, about 10. I went to my regular dr, a neurologist, and an ent. They all told me vertigo. I only had positional, where it pretty much only affected me when I first laid down, if I turned on my left side while laying down, and getting up. I went on antivert which worked for awhile then stopped. Tried other meds, don't remember what but nothing helped. Mine wasn't bad, so I didn't pursue other meds. Then about 7 months ago it just went away as mysteriously as it came. I sure hope it goes away for you because I know it can be very unpleasant.

I've been dealing with vertigo/ear fullness/chronic headaches for almost a year now.

I've been to a few ENT doctors and they all tell me it's an inner ear disorder (labyrinthitis).

When mine began in July 2009 it was primarily positional. Then it took over every moment and movement of my day. I would stumble and be in a constant fog. I also had the jumping eyes and a sensation of looking through a wide angle lens while I walked. It felt very out-of-body there for a while. I'm a runner, so this was a big blow to my daily life.

What pills are you taking?

I've been on diuretic pills since January 2010 given to me by my doctor and they seem to help a good bit. I was also put through a number of tests to rule-out BPPV and a possibly something more serious and neurological going on.

He couldn't stress enough to me to cut out processed foods, to cut back my salt intake, and quit drinking beer and coffee. I quit everything immediately with some relief except for coffee. I did that a few weeks ago and I feel for the most part back to normal now.

If you are experiencing vertigo - beer and caffeine will aggravate it.

You sound intelligent so why don't you go to the doctor sir?

It sounds inner ear but it could be many other things as well.

Go to the doctor.

iv been to the doctor many time's. im not to sure but iv read that if you have this more than 8 weeks its most likely you will have inner ear damage and the sooner you start vrt the better, but my doc just keeps saying it will go away, when its not!!! it has leveled out now. so thats why im asking people what to do.. should i just go and try and see an ENT or should i wait a bit longer?

Get a second opinion or see an ENT. I don't know what kind of insurance you have so it would depend on if you don't need a referral for a specialist or not.

Either way get it checked out by someone else. You're too young to fool around with something like this.

Good-luck to you
