Is anyone familiar with west African empires like the the Benin empire? It existed in modern day Nigeria. It's well known for its bronze art works. I think more people should look into other sub saharan kingdoms and empires. This is an under studied subject of history.

Africa is one of those places that has always fascinated me when it comes to ancient civilizations, thanks for this info. It's things like this that make me wonder just how far back does civilization really go and how much we underestimate what the ancients were capable of.
