No purpose necessary, except to widen the base of understanding.
You just said it again: Nothing should ever be performed using scientific methodology, unless an ultimate useful purpose for any discovery is already pre-formed.

You do not need me at all if you are just going to make up stuff and then argue against it.
Anyway, we finally have your answer. You can't think of a purpose for your proposed experiment.
