I also posted this in the NJ forum, but I was wondering if anyone remembers this. I've lived in NJ all my life and never heard of it until I came across the story in a book I bought at Borders when they were going out of business (on NJ history).

My cousins dive and the first time I ever heard about it was when they dove on the wreck. The Cold War made for a lot of strange ideas and plans.

I remember it being reported at the time. Then came the Thresher, which was even worse. Those who go down to the sea...

I remember the Thresher. I'd never heard of the Texas Tower incident. But then I was pretty small when this happened. Terrible tragedy.
