I find it disheartening that no one around here has taken much interest in learning about the Ancient Nubians history I wonder if it has something to do with thier race..
That's really the case far more than any racial BS.
What we do know is that the kingdom of Kerma/Kush existed and that it was dominated by Egypt when the latter was strong and thrived when Egypt was weak. We also know that when New Kingdom Egypt grew weak, the Nubian Napatan Empire, which emulated the Egyptian's culture, came and conquered them briefly (for about 100 years, 750-650) until the Assyrians trounced them. The Assyrian and later Persian encroachment caused the Nubians to move further south up the Nile and form form the Meroitic Empire (at Meroe, duh) from where they controlled a lot of northeast Africa through a network of cities and trade contacts well into the 4th century AD.
Unfortunately, primary information on the Nubians is sparse since they had far fewer inscriptions than the Egyptians and virtually none before the New Kingdom. A lot of what we know about them is drawn from Egyptian accounts, analogies to Egyptian beliefs, and archaeologists' discoveries of their material culture. They have those pyramids of their own which survived and are impressive but a lot of info on Nubia is gleaned from pottery sherds and well, that's kind of boring. Its tough to fill a Smithsonian Channel special with that stuff, much easier to have crackpots debate who was black in antiquity.
they ruled ancient egypt for a hundred years. no one ever talks about this black civilization, they built pyramids too even though they weren't quite as big.
Nyanna,
It was black people that built ALL of the pyramids, sphinx, etc. The white "Arabs" that you see in North Africa today stole/conquered those lands from the original Arabs/Africans=Black. I can DM you some great resources that will help you in your search for knowledge.

So are African Americans trying to claim Nubia as well?

I need to ask: do you belong to that bizarre cult that claims with a straight face that African Americans are "gods" and "goddesses"?

I dunno about this. I know it's a "stir the pot" post, and I haven't read up on ancient Egypt in a long time, but by the time the Egyptians came around, there most likely would have been a fairly interesting mix of traits that wouldn't have made the Egyptians "just" black. Right?

Oh man, and I thought it was aliens that built it all.
I am assuming you are not trolling and mean this seriously - I'm still amazed that people can have such a narrow and singular definition of race, particularly as it applies to ancient times. Yes DM it to whoever, please do not post it here, we've been through enough of this crap in other previous threads.

FYI Nubian pyramids came AFTER the Egyptian ones, I think, and they were of a different design. The pyramids of Egypt more likely came from ideas that evolved from Sumerian ziggurats, rather than Nubian influence.

I know that you consider yourself the foremost authority on, well not much, so perhaps you should brush up on your genetic population studies.
The Y chromsome study of lower Nubia here suggests historic male input from non Africans into the area is less than 5%, so it’s hard to argue for the ancient samples being massively different based on the modern DNA of the area.
African traits have been found in some Nubian groups as well — in genetics (Cavalli-Sforza et al. 1994, Krings et. al 1999), and hair
Hrdy (1978) — although of course Nubians in general show significantly stronger sub-Saharan influences than do
Egyptians.
