Can anyone point me to a book or online source that contains scans/images of travel brochures, etc... of the colonies of the New World during the Colonial era?
Travel brochures??? During the colonial era? I'd be interested in seeing something like that. There was no middle class to speak of, and I doubt that the travel industry was even developed by then.
In Spain, there was a wide assortment of "Libros de CaballerÃa" (romantic paperbacks) from the 16th Century onwards describing El Dorado, Jauja, etc. Of course, such narrative was basically fantastic. You also had books written by conquerors and their companions, I recall "Shipwrecked" (Naufragos) and The Conquest of Mexico, etc.
