The article talks about big cities and not the entire Europe. You had several Europeans tell you how absurd your post is and you still don't get it. What's wrong with you?
The only one talking about "absurd" is you so far.
What's wrong with you?
I have no idea what you're babbling on about. And btw, it was Lenin who said if you repeat a "fact" often enough (in the media), the public will believe it.
What is this, a little personal crusade of yours? Debunking everyone's supposed propaganda but your own?
Sure. The conditions were different in Poland and Czech Republic. Only poor Russians couldn't do anything. Stop blaming others...
Poland ( and particularly Czech republics) were much smaller economies. They could be quickly absorbed by Western Europe. It was not a case with Russia, or even Ukraine, no matter how much Americans were trying to push it out of Russia's influence.
Western European countries couldn't swallow that much - they were not interested. It's all about money to be made ( or not,) don't you know it?
How did this nonsense go, erasure? "American cities were designed for cars"
They were, ( and not necessarily in 19th century but in later times,) and the NYtimes article describes in details why European cities are different and can be easily returned to car-free ( or minimum cars) stage.
Same can't be done with American cites for obvious reasons.
I know who Europeans are on that thread and they prove my point for the most part, however couple of other posters might be Americans living in Europe. And Americans have tendency to project "things American" on "things European."
Just keep in mind that this is not the right thread for car discussion, so be patient until I have time to return to appropriate thread.
Don't get hysterical please.

The truth is as a Russian you have no clue what Europe is or what it stands for...
And you do?
My advise for you would be to read some threads in the world forum - you'll see what Europeans are saying about Americans ( particularly like you I suppose.)
It's entertaining to say the least.
It was not about a "gun," it was desire to bring the cold war to the end, to reunite Germany - that kind of stuff. That's how the idea of the loans came about - mutual benefits, you know.
