1848 marked the year of the Spring of Nations a series of revolts that swept Europe and parts of South America. So far in this decade of the 21st century we've seen revolution sweep across the middle east and until the dust settles on the financial crisis in the west who can predict what earth shattering developments may materialize.

Thoughts.

It's really hard to say. The Arab Spring could turn the greater Middle East into the next Europe or into a giant Iran, either is equally likely IMO.

Same with the Occupy movement, which is mostly dead now but has planted so many seeds. It could improve the political situation in the West or governments might win and turn it into an excuse for totalitarianism.
