In the first 25 years of my father's life, he saw the introduction of the horseless carriage, the telephone, electric lights, motion pictures, radio, heavier-than-air flight. Now, we get 4-G and technorock and cars that back themselves into parking spaces to elicit our oohs and aahs.
When my father was a young boy reading adventure stories, there were still undiscovered islands and large mammals and tribes of savages to speculate about, and there was a finite number of postage stamps and baseball cards to be collected. The most fascinating scientific toy for Christmas was a magnet, which was affordable and never required an upgrade or new software.
It must be boring as hell to be a child in the 21st century.
Most technologies have definitely improved our daily lives, but I still find the overuse of the cell phone to be the most annoying. No one needs to be on one every minute of every day.
