If you were a person of average wealth, standing, class.etc of that era. So if most people were poor, you'd be poor, if most were somewhat well off, you'd be somewhat well off.
Let's say you lived somewhere like Italy, in a small city.

The irony of course being that for most regular folks in small Italian cities or villages, life was pretty much the same throughout the millenia you are including. Work your farm or trade, pay taxes, raise your kids, go to church and hope that no one invades. How eerily similar to life today, lol.
I would choose the age of liberty and the gustavian era, as it is called in swedish history. which is about 1718-1810, but to really experince the era I am interested in I would have to had been about 120 years old as my cultural interest stretches into the 1830s.
Perhaps I should say some time between 1740-1840.
I would live in the Persian Empire during the Achmeanid (or however you spell it) reign. Reason being is that this was a time period of great transition and the cultural and societal rules of the western and middle eastern worlds were being constructed. This would have been the time of greatest historical opportunity IMO. And the living conditions wouldn't have been too bad.
I would love to visit all historical periods ( as a wealthy individual not one of the opressed masses) but no way would I want to live there. I am far too fond of modern medicine, running water, electricity, safe potable water, equal rights, varied cuisines and foods, books, travel and democracy.
Sign me up for a visit to just about any era , anywhere around the world, but long term, NO THANK YOU. I say this as an Archaeologist who would be absolutely herself with excitement to spend some time in places like Ancient Mesopotamia, Pre-Colombian America, Ancient Rome, The Kingdom of Siam, Age of Enlightenment,etc.... ( that is armed with some hidden comforts and a lot of medical knowledge, drugs etc...) and discover how people truly lived, thought, worked, worshipped and died. However there is no way I would offer myself to be stuck anywhere before the Victorian period and even then I am not too keen.
Ok, ok... 800 to 1400 during the Berber conquest of southern Europe.
Cordoba in Andalusia circa 1000 AD would've been a nice location to live in. Great sunny weather, Moorish gardens, fairly tolerant religious climate... Much better than freezing to death in some cold castle in Northern Europe.
