Being a brunette in Nazi Germany put you in very good company with the vast majority of your countrymen, and while blond hair and blue eyes were prized by their society at the time, persecution in Nazi Germany was not based on hair color or eye color, so I don't think the premise of the OP is even valid.

The reason was because in Nazi ideology, the original Teutonic, or Aryan race originating in Germany and Scandinavia were "pure white" with blonde hair and blue eyes. The lesser races (most notably, the Jews) intermingled with the Aryans, and their "inferior" genes were responsible for dark-haired Aryans. The Nazis believed that by wiping out the inferior races and implementing a eugenics program that favoured blonde hair and blue eyes, that the inferior traits could be bred out of the German people, and the Aryan race could be pure once again.

Of course, this racial hogwash was merely a vehicle Hitler used to ride to power. He needed a scapegoat for Germany's problems and the Jews fit the bill perfectly. By creating mystical origins for the German people, and blaming the Jews for their downfall, he was able to instill a nationalistic fervor in the majority of the German people and was able to paint himself as Germany's saviour in the process.

But here's something else: Nazi ideology was deeply anti-Slavic, yet lots of Germans, and even more so Austrians, have Slavic ancestry. There are examples of Nazis who had Slavic surnames. To my knowledge, these people were not persecuted, but they might have had trouble getting into elite units like the SS (where you had to prove "purity of Germanic ancestry").

They did not as many Prussians, and a large part of Prussian nobility, had Polish/Baltic origins.

A large part of German nobility and Army had Jewish ancestors that were "skipped".

As Goering said...."we say who's Jewish and who is not".

Hitler himself had slavic..and maybe Jewish blood.

Since those "dark" Germans, there are many, were living in Germany since 1750, they could enter into the SS.

By the way, there was a Jewish SS division, an Indostanic one, etc.

The "Aryan ideal" was hogwash in a country like Germany, and they knew it.

Take a look at Himmler, sme said he had Malayan blod, Heydrich was Jewish, etc, etc.

The Germanic, not the Nordic culture, is partly Slavic. Celtic culture-Nordic culture-Slavic culture. A three-hybrid culture.

There's a book about the subject, I believe that was also called Lions of Judah. I did not find it in Amazon. I read about it in other sources. The Aber..(I don't recall their name) trained a group of Jews from Palestina and they became a SS unit. Later became the Irgun, the ones that blew the hotel in Jerusalem.

It also became a feature in Time Magazine.

This is interesting. Just did a search about Asshurmen and the following popped up.

https://books.google.com/books?id=c8...hurmen&f=false

Mentions a name Ham. Isn't Ham a German last name? Makes you go hmm... maybe there's a connection. It would certainly explain the aggressiveness the Germans portaged throughout history.
