If it wasn't a mistake, why then 65 years later are we still needing another couple of decades for the problem to "sort itself out?"
Sometimes even you do things as directly as you can and you still have problems. The fact is priority judgments were made, and I don't think you can say they were a mistake.
In 2001, Dr. Ariella Oppenheim, of Hebrew University, a biologist, published the first extensive study of DNA and the origin of the Jews. Her research found that virtually all the Jews came from Khazar blood. Not only that but Oppenheim discovered that the Palestinians—the very people whom the Jews had been persecuting and ejecting from Israel’s land since 1948—had more Israelite blood than did the Jews. In sum, the vast majority of the Jews were not Jews; some of the Palestinians were. Some of the Palestinians even had a DNA chromosome which established that they were “Cohens”—workers at the ancient Temple and synagogues of the Jews.
The Definitive DNA Study
Now comes the ultimate, definitive DNA study, by Dr. Eran Elhaik and associates at the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Entitled, The Missing Link of Jewish European Ancestry: Contrasting the Rhineland and the Khazarian Hypotheses, and published by the Oxford Journal on behalf of the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution, the study confirms Oppenheim’s research and the many scholarly books.
Dr. Elhaik and the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine conclude in their report: “The Khazarian Hypothesis suggests that Eastern European Jews descended from the Khazars, an amalgam of Turkic clans that settled the Caucasus in the early centuries CE and Converted to Judaism in the eighth century...Following the collapse of their empire, the Judeo-Khazars fled to Eastern Europe. The rise of European Jewry is therefore explained by the contribution of the Judeo-Khazars.”
Nice job cherry-picking. Most others say otherwise; countless more Y-chromosome/mitochrondial DNA studies show that Ashkenazi Jews are far more closely related to other Jewish groups and Palestinians/Lebanese/other Arabs than Gentile members of their European host nations, much less "Khazars." The Khazar connection has been largely discredited. The vast majority of credible studies say it is tangential at best.
Either way, you don't need to put forth this discredited canard if what you're really trying to say is that the Jewish people have no right to be in Israel.

Serial bloodshed and violence for sixty five years, with no end in sight for another two decades plus, not such a good result, was it? The entire relationship between the western nations and the Islamic world has been defined by and immensely complicated because of this issue, things couldn't have worked out a bit better?
Terrible results flowing from a decision which did not have to be made, but you see no mistake anywhere?

I see lots of mistakes, but I don't think not defacto extending and expanding the mandate in Palestine was a mistake.

Those links and books are compelling. However, Palestinian Arabs mohammedans worshiping mohammed and the false god called allah are NOT Israelites, NOT the chosen people to take the place of Jews, nor are they descendants of Ishmael. Israel the land, nor the biblical prophesy estabished from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not the seat of David, none of it belongs to mohammedan squatters claiming Palestine as the true homeland.
Also, biblical prophesy of Rome, Zionist Jews, and Arab mohammedans have been prophesied in the biblical scriptures, this war that is coming.
Israel exists. True Israel. The children of God according to the Spirit, not the flesh.
And that would be what? ( Or rather who and where?)
