...Mt. St. Helens blew up, with a force 400 times that of the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima.

Way cool. I did not know this was political or controversial, but thanks for the distraction.

for months afterward you'd see ads in popular mechanics trying to sell vials of ash for a dollar to two.

I was 3 years old at the time, lived 100 miles away from the volcano, and don't remember much.

I have learned much of the eruption since.

The only question I have is - why is this political or controversial?

I have the answer - because more junk went into the air during the eruptions of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Pinatubo than all of the fossil fuels burned over the last 130+ years and those mountains still didn't contribute to "global warming".

Global warming is a myth created by liberals to secure control over markets and institute socialism.

Way Cool ??????: Dozens of innocent people died, and the lives of thousands were interrupted by damage to their homes, etc. This is not the first time I've seen some disaster described as "cool" by somebody with some growing up to do.

C'mon, this was 1980. It was Ted Kennedy and Jane Fonda who were responsible for the eruption.

That's why the liberals blew up the mountain. Industry wasn't creating enough pollution to bring on global warming by itself and the conspiracy needed to speed things up so that they could then use global warming to take over the markets, institute socialism, and make everyone watch nothing but PBS.
